Clinical Electives
A PROGRAM FOR MEDICAL STUDENTS
Are you a medical student looking to make a difference in the lives of patients at Siddhasthali Rural Community Hospital? If so, our “Clinical Elective” program could be perfect for you!
Our goal for this program is to allow international medical students studying abroad to participate in clinical clerkships at the Siddhasthali Rural Community Hospital under the supervision of the physicians of the various departments. These clinical electives will enable students to experience the first-hand practice of medicine in rural Nepal.
Working Conditions
Available to International Medical Students (Student Nurses, Medical Students, Paramedics and other allied health professionals).
6-day week, Sunday to Friday, about 8 hours per day.
Applications will be accepted for 4-weeks minimum.
You can apply to up to 4 departments in one elective period.
Please note that in Nepal, the weekend is on Saturday (Sunday is a workday). Your first day at the department should be Sunday.
When to apply
At least 3 months in advance. Applications received before or after that time frame- won’t be accepted!
Elective location
Electives are available in our main hospital located in Hetauda as well as in our satellite clinics.
Health Insurance
You are required to have valid Travel Medical Insurance.
Liability
While visiting the “Siddhasthali Rural Community Hospital”, you are not covered for malpractice insurance. Therefore you may not decide on medical treatment for patients and you cannot replace the medical team of the hospital.
How to apply
After making sure you are eligible for applying, make sure you have all the following forms to submit:
1. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
2. Complete Application Form
3. At least one reference letter from your supervisor. The reference can be emailed directly to [email protected]
Please make sure to upload all documents in your email and as PDF or WORD files. Incomplete application material including documents will not be handled or processed.
Application Timetable
All applications should be submitted at least 3 months before arrival day to [email protected]
Applications should not be submitted more than 10 months in advance.
Applications are reviewed within 2 weeks.
